My career in Public Realtions started in the early 1980s, in the days before the internet, mobile phones and sociual media, so I have a lot of historical context to aply to the work I undertake now.
I take my professuioanl development very seriously and am a member of The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) .
I gained the Communications, Advertising and Marketing Foundation (CAM) Certificate in 1994 and the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector in 2011.
I am also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and until August 2021 worked as a part time as a Senior Lecturer in PR at the University of Lincoln, alongside running Douglas Brown PR, teaching on its undergraduate and MA PR programes as well as the joint PR and Journalism courses.
For eighteen years I was an active volunteer in the Army Cadet Force, serving as commanding officer for the national PR Training Team (Read more about my work with the ACF PR Training Team in this article from Army Cadet Magazine (P20-21).
